MUSHROOM GATHERERS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—As Mr G. M. Butterworth challenges my statement, 1 will furnish him with facts which stand upon record. In a public court in Yorkshire I myself was fined for trespass when only a small boy. Mr Biitterworth must havo very little personal knowledge about our laws. It all depends who commits the deed. I have spent nineteen years, the best part of my life, to test our laws, and I have come to conclusion that we havo no place for a poor but honest, truthful man. Some
people can damage property and commit crime, and the arm of the lew will not interfere with them. Should Mr Butterworth want any more proof of my statement I shall, only be too glad to furnish it, and should he wish to meet mo in public I will astonish him and hundreds of others.'—l am, eta, •J.
