CONDEMNED BY ADMIRAL KINGHALL. ABSTAINERS IN THE INDIAN ARMY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received May 14, 6.20 p.m.) LONDON, May 14. At the Band of Hope Conference Admiral King-Hall drew attention to the progress of the temperance movement in the Navy, but said there was stili room for improvement. He condemned tho practice of serving out grog, and declared that 50 per cent of the men would surrender their grog if a small wage increment were substituted. He hoped that the Admiralty would spend if necessary, £60,000 for this reform, which would lead to an increase in efficiency.

Captain Webb said that 50 per cent of tho soldiers in India were total abstainers. ■ '
