NEW HEBRIDES.
A FRENCH PETITION,

In the House of Commons Mr Haroourt, replying to Mr Joynson-Hicks, said that his attention had been called to a petition from French residents in the New Hebrides, purporting to be signed by British subjects, requesting that the islands should be brought under the French flag, but ho had received information with regard to certain signatories which prevented him attaching undue weight to the petition.
