David Norman has been sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment on a charge of manslaughter in connection with the death of James Murtha, on March 19.' The judge commented on the jury returning a verdict of manslaughter instead of one of murder. (Norman was arrested on March 20 on a charge of murdering James Murtha at Wangan Hills. Deceased’s wife kept a boardinghouse and Norman was employed by her. Ope night Norman and Murtha quarrelled, and the latter was fatally shot.)
