The Management Committeo of the Canterbury Rugby Union met last night; present—Messrs F. T. Mam (vice-president), S. F. Wilson. A. M'Phail, W. J. Morgan, E. E. Crawshaw, A. E. Byrne, C. Hasoll, L torbett, F. D. Kesteven, C. Evans, A. lv. Baker and C. Buchanan. The Lyttelton Club wrote, askingjor. the reinstatement of W. Whitham and R. Perkins, wlio had played in higher grades outside of the city. The matter was referred to the Competition Committee. The Kaiapoi Club applied for the reinstatement of S. Piki, against the Australian team ■ at Auckland in September had been a financial failure, the gross receipts being £123, and the loss £l3. It was decided to proceed with the arrangements with the Merivalo Club • for a benefit match on April 18. The Belfast Club's application for affiliation was granted, the secretary remarking that it was intended to enter a President's Cup team. . The North Canterbury Club wrote, asking what the Union had done to foster the game in the country districts. It was hoped that something ■would be done before the players left for town and joined a Christchurch club. For the last two years seven North Canterbury men had been playing in Christchurch, and it was hoped that the North Canterbury competitions could be revived. It was decided to reply that three clubs could now form a sub-union. Mr Crawshaw said that in some cases North Canterbury players were desirous of playing in town, and they were not aware* that they could get a permit to do so. , The chairman replied that a permit could bo obtained. It was left to the secretary to arrange for a team to visit Rangiora oarlv in the season. The appointment of a Wellington delegate to the New Zealand Union was held" over until the May meeting. It was decided to ascertain the new method of election to the Domains Board, with a view to securing representation on the Board. The following committees were appointed :—Competitions, Messrs A. E. Byrne, 0. Hasell and A. M'Phail, with Mr Wilson as an advisory member; "permit, Messrs L. Corbett, C Evans and A. K. Baker; insurance, Messrs F. D. Kesteven. A. E. Byrne and C. Buchanan; advertising. Evans were appointed to wait on the Referees' Association to place before it the proposals for the amendment of the playin" rules. In this connection, it was agreed that a player should not be penalised for a knock-on if he recovered the ball before it reached the ground. The committee of tho Sydenham Football Club met. last evening, when matters in connection with the annual match' with tho Dunedip Club were discussed. The match will tako ybico this year in CTiristchurch, and will bo played as usual at Sydenham Fark. It .was decided that tho club's opening practice game should take place on Saturday week, as tho ground was not available! for next .Saturday, but tho hall would be opened for training on Thursday, and afterwards on the usual training nights. SOUTHBRIDGE CLUB. Tho annual meeting of the Southbridge Football Club was bold in tho Library on Saturday evening, Dr Withers presiding over a good attendance. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £-t 7s sd. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows:—Patron, tho Hon'.R. H. Rhodes; president. Dr Withers; vicepresidents, tho Revs 11.
