CHRISTCHURCH. Fiuday, MASCII 6. (Before Mr T. Wallace, J.P., and Mr J. Clarke, J.P.) Drunkenness. —A male first offender for drunkenness was fined ss, in default t went v-f o.ur hours’ imprisonment. Defence Act.— For having failed to render personal service under the Defence Act, J. Jewel's was fined 10s and costs W. Allan 40s and costs, and Frederick O. Hobson £3 and costs. By-law Breaches.— For having cycled on the. footpath, Charles M ilson and Julia Wilding were each fined os and costs, and Percy Jones was fined < s and costs. —For having allowed a liorse to wander Herbert Beadle was lined 5s and costs.—For having failed to chain the wheel of a vehicle which he had left, Thomas Champ was convicted and discharged. Thomas Henry Mingo, for having plied for hire m a taxi-cab without a license, was fined 40s and costs. For having driven vehicles without lights, Arthur Buckley and Frederick John Hedges were each fined 5s and costs. LYTTELTON. Friday, March 6. (Before Mr W. C. Cleary, J.P., and Mr F. W. Anderson, J.P.) Obscene Language.— Peter Hudson was charged with having, on March 5, at Lyttelton, made use of obscene language on No. 2 wharf. Accused pleaded guilty and expressed his regret for his action. The Bench said the obscene language evil must be stamped out and fined accused £5 and costs, in default one month’s imprisonment.
