TRUST MONEYS.
GILLESPIE'S CASE. SENTENCE POSTPONED. [Per Press Association.] _ WELLINGTON, December 23. Oliver Noel Gillespie, solicitor of Feilding, who at Palmerston North pleaded guilty to eight charges of fraudulently failing to account for moneys received, came before the Chief Justice to-day. Counsel for accused suggested that it would be of great importance to the prisoner to go through the accounts, and he felt sure that if Gillespie were granted six weeks or two months with the books considerable sums might- be recovered. He asked the Court to postpone sentence accordingly. His Honor: If there is any likelihood of part of the money being recovered, I don't object to that course. Counsel then called evidence to assure the Court that there was some prospect in that direction. His Honor postponed sentence until February 17, bail of £2OO in accused's recognisance, arid two sureties of £IOOO each being allowed.
