THE OXFORD HINTERLAND.
TO THE EDITOK. Sir, —In your issue of to-day, our old friend Air John O’Halloran is again to the fore with his pet subject, “The Oxford Hinterland.” At one time of day he did not think very much of tills same hinterland. Of courso, that is a long time back, when wo used to sell sample liens of sheep at Oxford. Circumstances j alter cases. Alight I suggest to my old- 1 friend a more simple and better way of influencing the powers that.be in push-' ing oh the opening up of this Garden of Eden, as depicted in two of your issues lately ? That is, that he offers his large acreage on Ellis’s Flat for settlement purposes. I need not point out the’ advantage this would give in effecting tha settlement of the hinterland.,; At tlie same time, I do not endorse your re- 1 ' porter’s exaggerated description of this • hinterland. —I am. etc., J. CALLAN.
