The Minister of Customs and tho Health- authorities discussed the removal of the quarantine embargo on Sydney. It is understood that the conference was inconclusive, owing to the Federal authorities insisting that the Vaccination Bill must be amended so as to give the Board of Health compulsory power to vaccinate everyone in the quarantined ar^as. (Received October 1, 1.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, September 30. Five cases of smallpox were reported to-day. THE GRAFTON CASE. (Received September 30, 8.20 p.m.) SYDNEY, September 30. The Grafton case has been diagnosed as ‘ smallpox. The patient, an insurance canvasser, was travelling about unaware of the n'ature of his illness until he went to the hospital.
