AKAROA BOATING CLUB. The twenty-fifth annual meeting of the Akaroa Boating Club was held on Friday evening in the Borough Council Chambers, tho president, Air O. W. Leete, being in the chair. Tho report referred to tho disastrous firo in March and the steps taken to replace tho loss, and also to tho brilliant successes of tho senior crew, Messrs Newton and Westenra, who won tho championship double sculls. .1 ho balance-sheet showed the receipts to have been £l4B 13s Id and the expenditure £lO2 19s sd, leaving a balance to credit of £45 13s Bd. The capital account stood at £875, being the money received from tho insurance company and the sale of a section. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Pho following officers were elected :■— j. atron, tho Hon 11. 11. Rhodes; president, Mr C. W. Leet-e; vice-presidents, Messrs E. H. Lelievre and W. H. Henmug ; captain, Air T. “Lewitt; deputycaptain, Air B. Henning; honorary secretary and treasurer, Air AI. Daly; committee, Alessrs K. Bruce, C. Good- \ V .VU U Hay lock, AI. Kearney, T. M Guile, W. Parkin and F. Westenra; racing committee, Messrs 11. Newton, L. Haylock and F. Westenra; delegates to Canterbury Centre, Alessrs P. E. Lynskey and A. Jacobson; delegate to Sports Protection Association, Air A. Jacobson. Hearty votes of thanks wero passed to the delegates, tho auditor and to the State Fire Insurance Dcnartment for its promptness in paying out t]ie insurance money. The chairman stated that the contractor expected to finish the boathouse before the end of October, when the new plant would arrive. About £3OO more would have to bo raised to meetall tho liabilities. It was docided that it should bo a recommendation to the committee to raise the ext fa money by debentures. The date of the opening day was left to tho committee.
