COUNTY COUNCILS.

AKAItOA. The Akaroa County Council met at Duvauchelle on Saturday; present — Messrs Bruce (chairman), Hay; Nowbegin, Williams, 0. Thaokor and J. Thacker. Tiio chairman reported having visited Pigeon Bay and inspected the sites of the two proposed bridges. Thoy wore on the two main roads, and he. eonsidered that thoy came under the class of work that was subsidised by the Council, provided that the Pigeon Bay Boad Board sent in proper plans and specifications.

A lottev was read from the chairman of the Counties -Association upholding the ruling of tho chairman of the Akaroa County Council regarding grants to Boad Boards. The question of cutting down the trees near the bridge at Duvauclielle, as they were an obstruction to the view, was left to the chairman and Mr Thacker. The Qknin's Bay Boad Board wrote asking for amount of tho rebate on the charge for crushing metal. It was decided that ihe amount should be supplied. Accounts amounting to £224 /3s 2d, also a progress payment of £4OO to the contractor completing the Flat Boad, were passed for payment. The Wahvera County Council wrote accepting tho Hon, B. IT. Bhodes's decision in the matter of tho reserve affected by tho Puolia severance.
