TAI TAPU v. EAST CHRISTCHURCH On Saturday a team from the East Christchurch Cricket Club visited Tai Tapu and played a match with the local team, the visitors winning by 10 runs. Following are tho scores:—East Christchurch 163 (Jones 54, retired. Neale 28. Griffin 18, E. Haughey 18 and Inglis 11); Tai Tapu 153 (H. Haughey S2. A. Barnott 12 and R. Penlington 10). For tho visitors J. Road took four wickets for 30 runs and Bealo four for 18, and for Tai Tapu Barnett took three wickets for 27 runs, H. Haughey three for 43 and H. Watson two for 57. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies of tho district. ISLINGTON AND HORNBY v. WEEKS AND CO. A cricket match was played at Homby on Saturday between the Islington and Hornby Cricket Club and a team from Weeks and Co, resulting in a win for the homo team by 104 runs. Following are the scores:—lslington and Hornby 155 (Falconer 37 not out, Matson 30, Owen 25i and Thomas 21); Weeks and Co. 61 (Evans 13 and Bennett . 12). For the winners Falconer took six wickets for 6 runs, and for the losers Christmas took two for 17 and Bennett two for 25. j GREENDALE v. DUNSANDEL. j On Saturday afternoon the Greendale team visited Dunsandel and played a match against the local team, resulting in a win for Dunsandel by 46' runs. Following are the scores :—Dunsandel 171 (T. Jamieson 85. H. Skinner 20, H. Wricht 10 and J. Bailcv 10); Greendale 125 (J. Rudd 38, Kilburn 22, Locker 17 and B. Rudd 11). R. Stephens and S. Gudsell bowled best for the winners, and Frew, North and Rudd for Greendale. OHOKA CLUB. The Ohoka Cricket Club opened the season on Saturday afternoon in the Recreation Grounds, Ohoka. There was a large attendance, and the ladies provided afternoon tea. A match. Married v. Single, resulted in a win for the former team by 5 runs. Following are the scores:—Married 116 (E. Ryder 57), Single 111 (F. Bowen 25).
