LAWN TENNIS.

LINWOOD CLUB. The annual meeting of members of the Linwood Lawn Tennis Club was held on Monday. September 22, at tho Linwood Chcs9 Club Rooms.' Mr A. Borrows was in the chair, and there was a good attendance of members. The annual report showed that tho club had a very successful season. Two teams were entered for the men's inter-club competition. The ladies' inter-club competition was won by the Linwood team. Tho balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £9 14s, which, considering the fact that a, laTgo sum had been spent on improving tho courts during tho year, woe very satisfactory, and tho assets exceodod the liabilities by £159 6s Gd. The report and balancesheet wero adopted. Tho following officers were elected:—Patron, Mr C. Palairet; president, Mr A. Borrows; vice-presidents, Messrs H. R. Schmidt, J. H. Kirk and E. ,T. Taylor; honorary secretary, Mr M. G-. Somerville; honorary treasurer, Mr S. W. Field; management committee, Messrs F. "W. Dunnage, C. Aiken, C. N. Allpross, H. P. Slater, P. B. Webb, W. N. Laws and D. Coates; honorary auditor, Mr F. W. Dunnage; delegates to Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association, Messrs Field, Somervills nnd Taylor. The opening day was fixed for Saturday! October 4. on which date Messrs Goss and Shoppard will play off for tho championship of the club.
