The Australians scored 223 and the colts 177. OPENING OF SEASON. The Cricket season was opened at Hagley Park on Saturday afternoon under ideal weather conditions. Friendly games v/ore played between teams from the St Albans, 'Riccarton, Linwood and West Christchurch Clubs. During tho afternoon tea was dispensed at the pavilion. °

SUMNER CLUB. The committee of the Sumner Cricket Club met on September 22, Mr E. Brown presiding. It wasagreed to let the contract for repairing and topdressing the concrete pitch to Mr Hatlierley, St Albans. Hr H. Rogers, secretary to the City and Suburban Association, attended to lay before members his Association's proposal regarding the control of all match wickets. After discussion, the following motion was carried That the Sumner Club heartily supports the Association’s proposals, and considers them to bo in the best interests of suburban cricket.” A heartv vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Rogers for his attendance. The club will open its season at St Leonard’s Square on Saturday next. DOYLESTON CLUB. The annual meeting of the Doyleston Cricket Club was held on Thursday evening, Mr T. Strong presiding over a good attendance. , The balance-sheet, which was adopted, showed receipts to have been £l9 15s and expenditure £2l 11s, leaving a debit balance of £1 16s. A team from the Sydenham Cricket Cluh visited Kimberley on Saturday and played a match with the Kimberley Club, winning by 29 runs. Kimberley made 82 (A. M’Beth 35 and R. M’Causland 10). Sydenham scored 111 for nine wickets (W oods 37 retii-ed and Forrester 29 retired). For the winners D. M’Beth howled best, securing three wickets for 32, and for the losers. G. Wilson took five wickets for 22 runs, and J. Gray and R. Willshire each took’two wickets. - Tlie visitors were hospitably entertained by the Kimberley residents after the match.
