A message from Athens says that the Greeks occupied Ergeri after defeating a Turkish force, who retreated to Tepeleni.
CAPTURE OF VALONA. (Received March 18, 11.30 p.m.) ROME, March 18
It is reported that the Greeks have occupied Valona. The Turks suffered heavy losses. Italy has telegraphed to her Ambassador special instructions regarding Valona.
THE HELD-UP STEAMER.
LONDON, March 18. A message' from Constantinople says that the steamer Henri Fraissinot had no contraband. She was detained by the Turkish authorities, but was 1-eleased on the demand of the French Government, who sent a warship to enforce the demand if need be. MEDIATION. FRESH PROPOSALS. .. \ LONDON, March 17. . Diplomatic circles in Sofia state that the Powers are preparing fresh proposals. Other quarters represent them as coercive. THE POWERS’ REPLY. PROPOSED FRONTIER. The Powers, in their reply to the allies agree to mediate and propose that the frontier shall be Enos-Midia instead of Rodosto-Midia. They reject the idea of an indemnity, and declare that the ASgeans and Albania are in the hands of the Powers. DUKE OF MONTPENSIER. CLAIMS AN ALBANIAN, PRINCEDOM. LONDON, March 17.' A message from Rome says that “La TVibuna ” states that the Duke of Montpensier has sailed from Naples with a view to starting a rising in Southern Albania and proclaiming himself prince. The vessel carries arms and ammunition.
