Sir John Ramsden sued the n Daily News " for alleging that ho was a bad landlord; that he had shut down his furnaces to prevent tho fumes killing his park trees, and thus made Brotherton a derelict village; that he charged excessive prices for land, and that he filched land from the highway. The Judge allowed an apology, and commented on the endeavour to render Sir John Ramsden's residence in' the neighbourhood impossible.
