A. AND P. ASSOCIATIONS.

OXFORD. The general committee of tho Oxford ’Agricultural and Pastoral Association met on Saturday. Mr W. Weld presided and there were sixteen members present. A discussion took, placo in regard to the Territorial camp which will be held from April 7 to 20. It was stated that this camp would not only militate against the attendance of young men at tho show but would seriously handicap farmers in preparing their exhibits, getting them ready and taking them to tho show. It was ultimately resolved that the officer* commanding the district should be communicated with, with a view to obviating the difficulty and granting exemption from attendance in camp till after Anril 10.

A letter from the Oxford County Council, inviting the Association to a public meeting to be held on January 18, to protest against the action of the Government in hanging up the Ashley Gorge-Snowdale Road, was received and considered.

The Oxford Jockey Club wrote, presenting the Association with a cup valued at' £lO 10s, to he competed for in the classes for light horses, including competitions. The secretary was instructed to reply, expressing the Association’s thanks and appreciation for the generous gift. Mr J. O’Halloran brought up the question of Government exhibits at the show, and_ suggested that as in connection with the defence system of the dominion several definite types of horses were required, and as breeders had not a clear idea in their minds of the exact requirements of the Department, the Government should be asked i to make an exhibit of horses of the requisite types. Mr O’Halloran wns asked to communicate with the Defence Department in this regard. It was reported that seven entries had been received for the milk-test competition, and it was left to the secretary to have the competition carried out. It was also reported that there had been three entries for the cottage garden competition, and that Mr T. W. Adams, of Greendale, had been secured as judge and had made a first inspection of the gardens. \ The schedule of classes for the show Was revised and a number of new classes added. The sections for house and dairy produce, flowers and fancy work were referred to the ladies’ committee. Provision was made for shearing and shoeing competitions. In connection with Mr O’Halloran s Cup for the four best Corriedale ewe lambs, it was decided that for 1913 and 1914 the lambs should be the property of the exhibitor and might he purchased by hirn, but that in 1915 and following years they must be ‘<bred by exhibitor.” The lambs were to be judged by points, as follows: Size and constitution, 3 points; evenness of quality of wool, 2 points; appearance, weight and quality of wool, 4 points; symmetry of lamb, 1 point; total, 10 points. It was resolved that the entrance gate and approach to the show grounds from Church Street should be put in hand at once. A sub-committee of nine members was appointed to allocate the special prizes.

Seven new members were elected. The president reported that Mrs J. R, Gorton had decided to present the Association with, a cup, valued at £o os, for competition.
