Redmond suggested a deferred system of messages to Australia, ten words at five shillings, carrying a delay of fortyeight to seventy-two hours or longer. Mr Samuel replied that negotiations with tho Pacific Cable Board and cable companies were nearly completed. He hoped that a cheaper system of weekend messages would bo introduced, though it was impossible to fix the charge as low as Mr Redmond's suggestion.
