SUGAR COMMISSION.

EVIDENCE CONTINUED. United Press Association—By Electrio TelegTaph—Copyright SYDNEY, October 15. Tho Sugar Commission resumed its sittings, and the examination of Mr Knox, general manager of tho Sugar Company, was continued. He expressed the opinion that tho White Australia policy, as anolied to North Queensland agricultural work, .was hopeless. It had not been proved that the sugar industry could bo carried on in the tropics with white labour. He considered that there was no chance of beet sugar endangering tho cane sugar industry in Australia. In New Zealand there was no duty on sugar, yet no beet sugar had been introduced. The chairman announced that the Commission unreservedly accepted the limitation of inquiry imposed by the High Court injunction, and the Commission would accept Mr Knox's statement previously refused.
