REFORM LEAGUE.

A meeting of the Political Reform League, held at Sheffield on Monday night, was addressed by Mr E. C. Huie, vice-president of the Canterbury branch, and Mr David Jones, organiser. Mr Huie stated briefly the objects of the Reform League, and gave a short address on tho cost of government and the growth of public expenditure under tho Liberal regime, which,, ha contended, was out of all proportion to the growth of population and the administrative needs of tho dominion. Jio also analysed the accounts of several of the Government's trading Departments, for tho purpose of showing* how tho recurring annual deficits were mado up out of taxation. Mr Jones followed en the lines of his previous addresses, and devoted a: good deal of his time to various phases of the land question, referring particularly to the activity of tho single tax wing of tho Labour Party, which, hesaid' was out to saddle the landowner with a disproportionate share of taxation. , J .'
