[From Oun Coheespondext.] WELLINGTON. September 30, DRIVERS. FIREMEN AND GREASERS.
Representatives _of the Enginedrivers’. Firemen’s nnd Greasers Unions,'accompanied by Messrs Glover, BradneV and Coates, waited on the Prime Minister this morning and asked him to provide that persons employed in the above capacities in timber mills, soap manufactories, flour mills and suon-liko factories should not be compelled to work under the award relating to that particular industry, but that they should he able in-each case to form a union of their own, the ultimate objective being a dominion award relating to the industry. Air Massey said that he would consult the Crown Law officers with a view 1o drafting a Bill to meet the wishes of the deputation. IMPORTATION OF STOCK. A deputation waited on the Prime Minister■ to-day in reference to the question of working up a trade in tho exportation of stock, and to point out tho present difficulties in the matter of. importation. The deputation explained the difficulties experienced in bringing stock from England to New Zealand, and in exporting stud animals from the dominion to South America and the Falkland Islands owing to the excessive freight charges. It. was stated that several wealthy owners of ranches in South America would shortly arrive in New Zealand in search of stock, and it was suggested that a conference might be arranged with a view to obtaining better terms from the shipping companies. Air Afasscy promised to go carefully into the matter and to inquire whether the desired conference could lie arranged.
