MARKET REPORTS.

HORSE SALE.

Tho National Mortgage and Agency Company held their monthly sale of horses at Tattersall’s Bazaar, Rangiora, on Friday, when 113 horses wero offered, together with a number of traps, gigs and harness. The horse's comprised heavy draughts, unbroken draughts, harness and saddle 'horses, and a number of unbroken light horses, amongst the last named being a number on account of Mr E. C. Fafceman, which were sold in conjunction with Messrs Pyne and Co. There was a large attendance of buyers from all parts, competition was good, and a large proportion of the entry was sold, the whole of Air Patemnn’s entry being sold with the exception of five brood mures. Of the total entry 87 were sold, others falling short of vendors’ reserves. The day was particularly rainy, hut no inconvenience was felt by sellers or buyers, everything being under cover and handled expeditiously in an up-to-date horse sale repository. It is some time since so many horses were brought under the hammer on ono day in Canterbury. Following are some of the prices realised: —Broken yearlings £3 to £5 10s. two-year-olds £5 to £7 15s, three-year-olds £7 to £8 10s, unbroken halfdraughts £22 to £27. harness horses broken in £S to £l7 10s, draught mares and geldings, four to six years from £3l to £SO. seven and eight years £2B to £43/ older sorts £lO to £lB.

The fortnightly wool, skin and hide sale was hold by the various auctioneers at Ashburton yesterday, when the following range of prices was obtained:—Skins —Cross-breds Is 7d to 8s 3d, half-breds 3s to Bs, merinoes Is (id to 3u Bd, hoggets Is to 4s 9<l. black Is fid to ,Bs. pelts 8d to ]od. Wool— Male emtehings sid to fijid per lb, bag do. 3jd to fi}d per lb. wool fd ( d to 7:1 tier lb. dead wool '7jrl to Bid nor lb, Mack 64d ner lb; horsehair Is Id to Is 5d per lb. Fat—Bag 2d per lb. tin 2d per'lb. Calf skins Is to 4s fid. hides 10s to lfis. rabbit skins 9<l per lb.
