There were 91,927 hales catalogued, and 87,163 bales were sold. The total shipments to Europe for the week amounted to 1,210,000 quarters, including from the Argentine 184,000 quarters, from Russia 270.000 quarters, from the Danubian provinces 133,000 quarters, from India 292,000 quarters, and from Australasia 15,000 quarters. In the English market a shipment of Australian wheat was sold at 40s, 3d per quarter.

The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the _ following cable message from the High Commissioner, dated London, July 13. The quotations, unless otherwiso specified, are the average market prices on the spot:— Frozen Meat.— Mutton—The market is steady, with a; very good demand; Canterbury, 3Jd to 4|d; North Island, 3|d to 4Jd, according to weight; .ewes, 3]d. Lamb—There is a good demand for all lamb, but deliveries are light at the market on a.ccount of tho strike, though the discharge is improving. Quotations show a weaker tendency; Canterbury heavy-weights, ogd; lightweights, 6id (scarce); other than Canterbury, id and id less than these. Beef—The market is quiet but firm; New Zealand hindquarters, 4id; New Zealand forequarters, 3Jd. Cheese.—The market is declining on account of heavy homo supplies, and business is dull; New Zealand, white 66s per cwt, coloured 675.

Butter.—The market is quiet and rather steadier, stocks of New Zealand being pretty well cleared; choicest New Zealand butter, l!3s per cwt; Australian, 106 s; Siberian, 103 s; Danish, 1.225. Hemp.—Tho market is firm with an improved demand; spot, New Zealand good fair £22 10s per ton, New Zealand fair £2l ss; forward shipment, New Zealand good fair £22 10s per ton, New Zealand fair grade £2l 10s; stocks, 268 tons. Tlie market for Manila is active at an advance; spot, fair current Manila £23 per ton; forward shipment, £23 10.;. The output from Manila for the week was 24,000 bales. ' • • Cocksfoot Seed.—The market is very quiet and no attention is given to New Zealand; prices per cwt, 64s to 70s.
