AN INTERESTING BRAKE. TEST. [From Ocr Correspondent.] WELLINGTON, July 15. ( A great deal of dissatisfaction was expressed by railway men, in the South Island particularly, over tho vetoing by Air Myers of the Railway Appeal Board’s majority decision in favour of Guard Cadman, of Christchurch, who! had appealed against reduction to the grade of porter.' - The cause of tlio reduction was Ins'alleged failure to cbuplia the brake hose off a train at Kaiapoi, thus placing tho brakes on a section or the train out of action. Representations were made to the late Alinister for Railways by the Executive Council of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, and a test of the Westinghouse brake was held at Wellington recently in the presence of the Railway Department’s chief officers. As a result. it is reported that a doubt arose in the matter, and.Mr Myers'-gave the benefit to the guard, who has resumed liis former position. . .... • >
