CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday, May 21. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) XXjuinkenness. —Two first offenders were each fined os, in default twentyfours hours’ imprisonment, for drunkenness. ' • Prohibited Persons. —Mary Anno Seymour and Henry Franklyn Clisby, for breaches of their prohibition orders, were each lined ss. Supplying Liquor Illegally. —Mary Smith,, a barmaid at the Shades Hotel, was charged with supplying liquor to an intoxicated person. William John Larcombe was charged with a similar offence through his barmaid. Mr Anthony, for the defence, said that tho barmaid had no idea that the man was under the influence of. liquor. Tho male defendant had been a publican in, tho couutry, and was probably, therefore, unused to tho close supervision exercised'in the city. Tho .Magistrate said lio was satisfied that there were extenuating circumstances. The defendants . would each be fined 20s and costs. Affiliation. —Percy Smith was ad-

judged the father of an illegitimate child in a Government institution, and was ordered to pay 7s 6d a week for its support. Maintenance. —Charlotte Campion agreed to cancellation of. a maintenance order in her favour against Charles Campion, and the cancellation was. accordingly made.—Thomas Henry Bransgrove was charged with being £ls in arrears with a maintenance order m support of his wife, Edith Bransgrove. He was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment, to be suspended provided he paid off the arrears at the rate of 5s a week in addition to the 30s a week provided in the order.—An application by Andrew Brockman for cancellation of a maintenance order against him in favour of his wife, Phcehe Brookman, was granted, tho separation order alone to remain—William John Blunt (Mr Hunt) was ordeied to pay los a week towards the support of his wife, and a similar order was made in the case of George Lewis Grether (Mr Don-nelly)-—Robert Henry Coimolly was granted a variation of his maintenance order in respect of Annie Halier. \ Remanded.— George Hamilton and Elizabeth' Shehan. charged with being idle and disorderly persons, were remanded till May 28.
