MILITARY TRAINING.

TO THB JIUITOR. Sir, —Allow me space in your valuable paper to comment on the silly way in which tho anti-militarists go to work. On my way to work this morning, along the Papanui Road, noticed every other telegraph post had a dia-mond-shaped slip oi paper, bearing on it, in large letters, the wording: "We won't train to shoot clown strikers." Now, "We" may stand for the whole fissemblance of " The National Peace League:" hut more likely the word stands for the genius who printed those ignorai* words, and the bright distributor who had' nothing better to do than run round and paste worthless bits "f paper on Government property. Worthless boasts I "Won't is a strong word to use, and the originators knew it. J suppose they would, in a caso of strike, stand by and smilingly watch the strikers amusing themselves bv breaking his or their windows, and wilfully damaging their property. No ; a thousand times no. The person or persons who composed those vain boasts would be the first to raise heaven and earth to prevent the destruction of his or their properties. Strikes can be carried on without rioting, and therefore there would be no need to call out the troops.—l am. etc.. PAYNE-LESLIE.
