Messages, from Madrid, confirmed by tho Papal Nunciature, announced the Pope’s death.

ROME, April 11

The report of the Pope’s death is untrue. Router states that the Pope is in excellent health.

HOW THE ERROR OCCURRED,

(Received. April 12, 10.35 p.m.) MADRID, April 12.

The mistake with reference to the Pope originated through an official of the Papal Nunciature receiving a telegram announcing his father’s death, worded “ Papa ha muerto.” The telegraphic authorities informed Senor Canalejas that the Pope was dead, and Senor Canalejas told journalists.
