THE CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIP.

■WON BY RANGIORA. Tho final match of the season between the winners of the North Canterbury Clubs competition, and tho winners of the South Canterbury Clubs’ competition was played on the United lawns on Thursday. Rangiora, the winners of the Northern Group, won eight games out of the twelve played, while of the other four, two were drawn, one was not played, and in one Telnuka was leading when time was called. The following are the results of the games: Doubles—W. Allison, and Mrs Josling (K.) beat J. W. Joynt and Mrs Joynt; S. A. Clark and Miss Buddo <R) beat B. Asp.nall and Mrs Buxton; J. O. Josling and Miss Fuller (E.) beat Mrs Bitton and Mrs Aspinall; A S. Bruoo and Mrs Will (R) oeat Mrs Ashwell and Miss Paterson. , „ . . „ Singles—S. A. Clark (R.) beat B. A? P mall J. O. Josling (R) beat Mrs Bilton; Mrs Will (R.) beat Mrs Ashwell; Miss Puller (R.) beat Miss 'Paterson. Unfinished games on call of timfe —W. Allison (R.) drew with J. W. Joynt; Mrs Joynt (T.) was leading against Miss Buddo (R.>; Mrs Aopinall (T.) drew with A. S. Bruce. , , „ At tiho conclusion of tho mawh the president of the Association. Mr S. S. Blackburns, presented tho Senior Flag to the champions, the liangiora team, and the- Junior blag, which had been made by tho Rangiora. ladies, to the St Alb ana Club. Ho remarked on the keenness with which both flags had been contested, and tho enjoyable games that had been played. Possibly next year thoTe wornd be altered conditions under which the flag matches would be played. He hoped that in the near future it would be possible to join hands with otheT provincial Associations and form a Nov/ Zealand Association. Cheers were given fop tho United Club for kindly lending its grounds for the match for Rangiora and Temuka teams, and for the hdiea of the United Club who kindly entertained both, teams.
