ALLEGED MISBEHAVIOUR.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir.—ln vour issue of Monday under the title '“Hoodlum” appears an anonymous letter stating that the boys from Lyttelton attending the Technical College axe a thorough nuisance to other passengers, and are in the habit of passing insulting remarks. lam informed that t-lie only constant travellers in the carriage with our boys on the morning and afternoon trains are two or three members of the Permanent Force, Mr Webb, of Lyttelton, and a pupil attending St Bede’s School. I have made personal inquiries from each of these, and have been assured that there is no truth in the allegations. I hare also been in communication with the railway authorities, both at Christchurch and Lyttelton, and find that no oomplaint ‘has ever been received as to tlio conduct of these hoys. There are only four boys attending our day school from Lyttelton, and as they wear the green, school cap with monogram there can be no mistake about their identity. I cannot but express surprise that so singular a departure from the honourable practice of your paper should have been nermitted, and that some malicious person, too cowardly to sign liis name, should have been allowed to cast a gross reflection upon an educational institution, and upon the character of boys whose parents axe wellknown in'tho town to which they belong. Before such a letter was published the writer should surely have been compelled to disclose his name so that he might be called upon to make ijood his statements.—l am, etc., 44 . JOHN H. HOWELL, Director.
