OBITUARY.

The Hon John Rowland Dacey, Colonial Treasurer of New South A\ ales, died suddenly this morning. He was removed to a private hospital yesterday suffering from acute rheumatism, but a fatal termination was not expected. The Labour cans© loses in Mr Dacey one of its most prominent and stalwart supporters.
An old resident in the person of Mrs Ann Hey wood Kilwortli, died, on Wednesday. The deceased lady was born in Ashby Magna, Leicestershire, England, in 1834. She arrived in the dominion with her husband over thirtyyears ago, and, with the exception of a few months spent in Christchurch, resided during that period in tlio Ashburton County. Deceased, who was a staunch member of the. Wesleyan Church, is survived by her husband, and leaves a family of two sons and one daughter.
