THE MAYORALTY.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —It seems that the triangular contest for the Mayoralty is occasioning considerable interest. This is a healthy sign, and as long as the supporters of the asoirants behave like reason, ablo beings I trust that the interest will grow. Each candidate will have a strong following, and the result cannot, in any way, bo looked on as a foregono conclusion. To my mind there are certain elements of weakness in each of the men, but tho heckling which seems so necessary a part of our electioneering life will probably give us a fair idea of wliat these men propose to do in case of their election. As an old citizen my desire is that our city shall stand in the front rank, and we must certainly have a live man at tho liead of civic affairs. Of course none of the threo candidates comes within coo-eo of the late T. E. Taylor as far as a grasp of public questions is concerned. Our obvious duty remains to select a mayor from tho best material available. I do desire that the candidates will bring forward a demand definite statement of their policy. Let us have it straight from the shoulder, and let us know what we are voting for.-I am, ALBANS .
