BANKING RETURNS.

[From Our Correspondent.] AA r ELLINGTON, April 10. The banking returns for the March quarter show that deposits improved to the extent of over half a million, hut advances are fully three millions higher than they were a year ago. Discounts and advances during tho March quarter of 1910 were £17,993,444; 1911, £18,800,390; 1912, £23,129,550. Deposits fo rthe same period were:—l9lo, £22,155,763; 1911, £23,470,047; 1912, £24,016,903. It will thus be seen that the excess of deposits in 1910 was £4,162,319. in 1911 £4,069,657, and in 1912 £887,353. The reduction of margin on the year amounts to £3,782,304.
