RIFLE SHOOTING.
CHRI9TCHURCH DEFENCE RIFLE CLtJB. ANNUAL FIELD DAY. The ( annual Field Day of the Christchuroh Defence Rifio Club was held at Cashmere on Easter Monday. The weather was fino and warm, but the wind was rather tricky, being light; and fitful. Twenty-three members took part in the shooting, which consisted of ten shots at 300., 600 and 600yds, and some good scores were put on, the scratch men especially finishing well up. The 500yds range was taken first, and the best scores were L. P. White 49. J. E. Carter 48. H. Eevnolds 48 and S. F. Nelson 47.' At 600yds E. F. Sandford and J. E. Carter were, tonscorers with 47 euoh R. Duthie and .T. Rennie getting 46 each, and D. J. Guinev 45. At 300yds Sandford finished with the fine score of 48, making his rgireiato for the day 140 out of a possible 150. Carter got 44, and finished up only ono point behind Sandford. Other good scores at 309vds were White 46, Reynolds 46, R. Duthie 45 and N. Wood 45. At the conclusion of the doliberate shooting a service /match, seven shots, snarj-shooting at figure targets at 30Oyds,~ was fired. The target was a head and shoulders only, and was exposed for four seconds each time. At the conclusion of the day tho prizes wore presented by Mrs J. A. Lummis, and cheers were given for the donors of prizes, Mr H. A. Logan and the ladies. Following were the results: —
