Pilgrim’s Way and Gipsy Belle were in the lead, but below the distance Gipsy Bells dropped back, and Gapon put in a strong run. Gradually overhauling ’ the leaders, Gapon got up in time to beat Pilgrim’s Way on the post by a head. Clamnena was two lengths away, with Gipsy Belle and Pleasure Bent next. Time —lmm 15 2-ssec.

Stratford) 0 Foam Flake quickly ran to the front and showed the way down the back, well clear of Bellah, Byron and Mira, There was little change till the half-mile post was reached, when Byron and Bellah dropped hack a little, and Tikitere moved up. Racing for file straight. Foam Flake retired, Mira taking charge from Tikitere, with Bellah handy, and Oratava making a forward move. At the distance Bellah and Oratava went in pursuit, of Mira, and a great finish ended in Mira just ’lasting long enough to beat Bellah by half a head, with Oratava a head away third. Tuma was two lengths away fourth, followed by Rose Noble. Time—lmin 43 2-ssec.
