THE DEFENCE FORCES.
THE TERRITORIAL CAMPS. TEMPLETON. Much useful work was done at the Templeton Camp yesterday. After reveille at 6 a.m., the men had physical drill and spent the rest of the morning at semaphore signalling. The squad competitions were held in the afternoon, the form shown by the men being excellent in every respect. The results of the judging are not yet available. In the afternoon a new departure was made in connection with •the camp. Previously the drill had been squad drill and nothing at all ambitious was attempted. Yesterday company drill was held. The results were, in every way, satisfactory, the men drilling very well indeed and showing an intelligent appreciation of the orders. The battalion parade was unfortunately delayed for half an hour by tho rain which came on at 4 p.m. The rain caused some inconvenience, and to obviate this trenches were dug around the tents and by tliesb means the rain-water was drained off. The engineers made fascines and put up two huts, one of straw and one of tarpaulins. To-morrow afternoon an athletic sports meeting will bo held. •_ Many of the men have been in training and a good afternoon’s snort should be the result. The men are now very fit, and the march home on Thursday, after their camp experiences, should cause them no inconvenience
[Per Pness Association.) WELLINGTON, April 9. Good work is being clone at the Territorial camp at Trentham. where nearly 700 men are under canvas. They had a -rather rough experience last liieht, heavy rain soaking tho tents, and in sonio cases flooding the ground.
