Bishop, S.M.) f Drunkenness.— Four men first offenders were each fined os, in default ■ twenty-four hours’ imprisonment, and one woman was convicted and discharg--1 ed.—Another woman, who was found helplessly drunk in Armagh Street, was ordered to pay medical expenses, 355, in default fourteen days nnprison- . ment John Madden, a second offender, was convicted and discharged.— Alexander M’Donald, another eecond ! offender, was fined 10s, in default i forty-eight hours’ imprisonment.— | Thoma 3 Edward Calvert was convicted of drunkenness, declared to be an i habitual inebriate, and ordered to be detained in the Rotcroa Inebriates’ | Institution for twelve months for reformative treatment. —James Simpson, for disorderly behaviour while drunk in Montreal Street, was fined 10s, in default forty-eight hours’ imnrisonment. I Several Charges.— John Farrell, for drunkenness, was fined <ss, in default, twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. _ He was convicted of having on April 8, 1912, refused to on it the bar of the , New Zealander Hotel when requested ito do so hv the licensee. In -the afternoon a bogey handicap was played, which was won bv L. W. 'Harley. Before all the players had finished the round a sudden thunderstorm came up, accompanied by a downpour of rain, which flooded some of the putting greens. This interfered with the chances of oercral players, notably B. B. Wood and P., Trolovc, who, when the rain began, wore in a strong position and seemed likely to inflict a severe defeat on “ Colonel Bogey.”

At the conclusion of . play the prizes were presented by the club captain. Mr H. H. Loughnan, as follow: —Event No. 1. championship of Canterbury—B. B. Wood; run-ner-up, B. C. Rutherford. Handicaps played concurrently with championship rounds—P. Trolove and W. E. Bryden. Bogey Handicap —P. H. Cumberworth; runner-up, G. H. Swann. Foursome Bogey Handicap—M. H. Godbv and J. E. Donald.
