Tolford, ran a milo and a half in 2m in 42scc, finishing strongly. Royal Arms galloped sevon furlongs in lmin 29 3-ssec. and Royal Scotch six furlongs in lmin lGJsec. St Petersburg and St Felix did a mile together at a solid paco. Autumnus arid Stenney covered four, furlongs fast, as did Dirge and Aloha. Midnight Sun covered a mile and five furlongs fast. Tho first five furlongs wero run in lmin ssec, and ho was picked up by Grandee over tho last seven furlongs, the pair finishing together. It was a good working gallop. Domino, who is in great heart, did two circuits, finishing strongly. Golden Loop galloped six furlongs in lmin 15 4-ssec, the best gallop of the morning. Master Sylvia ran five furlongs in lmin 3" 2-ssec, and Theodore seven furlongs in lmin 32sce, the last six in lmin 1G 2-ssec.

First-class acceptances were received last night for the opening l day oi the New Brighton Trotting Club’s meeting on Thursday. All the horses handicapped accepted in tho Burwood and Bash Handicaps, whiic only ona dropped out of the Innovation Handicap and two out of the Bexley Handicap. The Canterbury horses which tcok pari in the Dunedin Jockey Club’s mooting lest week returned home in detachments, tho final lot returning Inst night. While running in a paddock at Riccarton a few days o.ro tho two-ycar-old filly by Boniform —Inglencuk became entangled in a wire fence and was severely cut. This is the second mishap of the kind she has met with during tho last few months. Muscadino, Margo and Fenlhcrstonc have been responsible -for several creditable displays over tho schooling hurdles at Riccarton during the past week. Corcniform is still showing signs of'lameness, but lie is galloping with alt his old brilliancy, desniie the affliction.

Tho Chokeboro fillies Counterfeit and Hcatherbrae have been enjoying an easy time of late, but they are expected to be in solid work again soon, with a view to autumn engagements. Winning Way lias resumed active work and bears ail improved appearance aa the result of her brief respite. b'eadog, who wen ibe Stanley Steeplechase at Caulfield on Saturday, was bred in Canterbury and did a fair amount of racing here over obstacles without, however, rising beyond moderate form. Takipcno, the winner of the Hawksburn Handicap at Caulfield on Saturday, is a member of a very successful Australian family. He is by the English sire Challenger, by Isinglass— Meddlesome, his dam, Hides, being by Mostyn—Fidelity, by Gang Forward. Takipono is a half-brother to True Scot nnd Braw Scot, both good winners, sired by Wallace
