COUNTY COUNCILS.

AKAROA. The monthly meeting of the Akaroa County Council was held on Saturday at Du’vauchelle; present—Messrs Bruce S chairman), Hay, Thacker and Barker, ilr W. H. Montgomery wrote stating that he was resigning his seat on tho Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, as he was leaving for Britain. Tire chairman was appointed to arrange with the other contributing bodies regarding the appointment of a successor. The Waiwera County Council wrote again regarding the division of certain reserves now' held by tho Akaroa County Council. asking for a private conference, failing which they v'ould apply for a commission of inquiry. It was decided to decline a conference, and tho chairman and Messrs Thacker and J. Pettigrew were appointed to represent the Council should a commission bs held. ■A long discussion took place on tho question of hawkers’ licenses, and it was decided to ascertain if the Council *coulcl legally charge travellers reprefenting town houses. The financial ■tatement showed receipts since last meeting to have been £ll3O 10s 9d. Accounts presented for payment totalled £157 17s.
