PIGEON FLYING.
The Canterbury Flying Club flew a, race from "Woodville on Saturday, a distance of 282 miles. Fifty-nine bird 3 competed, and the following is the result, giving yards velocity per rainuto:—H. Browning's bird, 1210; i\ D. Wilson, 1210; B. Ashworth, 1209; J. \V. Blanchard, ' 1206. i Tho race proved a very close one, but Jit H. Browning's bird woa by a. fraction.
