The Olympia Skating Rink was well patronised yesterday. It will bo open for the three sessions as usual to-day. SYDENHAM PICTURES. There was'a satisfactory attendance at tlio Sydenham Picture Palace last night, and tlio current programme was appreciatively received. To-day thero will bo a matinee at .2.30, in addition to the evening performance. A change of programme will be screened. The now pictures will include “ Pirates of 1920,” “Warrant for Red Rube,” “ Ghost of the Vault,” “ Trip in Aerial Yacht,” “ Scenes in Madeira,” and “ A Dixie Mother.” LEONARD BORWICK. Leonard Bonvick is said to be a virtuoso whoso poetic temperament gives to his art a remarkable chasteness of expression and refinement of taste. The following is an extract from a criticism by the “Munichener Neueste Nachrichten ” :—“His touch, which is soft and rich, is under marvellous control, and furnishes an almost infinite range of the finest imaginable gradations, which are yet tinged with ex-' pression even down to the last scarcely audible pianissimo; in addition, his whole playing is remarkable for its absolute lucidity and the flawless purity of the stylo.” His two recitals in Christchurch, under the direction of Messrs J. and N.- Tait, will be given on Tuesday and Thursday, September 19 and 21. The box plans will open at tlio Dresden on Wednesday.

MISS RENE QUEREE’S CONCERT. Miss Rone Queree’s concert will take place in the Theatre Royal on Wednesday, September 20. Miss Queree will play several numbers by Chopin and Liszt, and the Schumann Concerto with the Christchurch Orchestral Society. Mrs Gower-Burns will sing a song cycle by Somerville and the jewel song from “ Faust.” Miss Vera Humphries and Mr Farquhar Young will also contribute vocal items, and Miss Thelma Brown an elocutionary number. The box plan will open on Thursday at the Dresden.
