LABOUR TROUBLES. [Per Press Association.! AUCKLAND, September 7. Among the passengers bv tho Atua from tlie Islands was Herr Emil Krause, who is Acting-Chief Justice of German Samoa during tho Governor’s absence. Ho states that there has been trouble in Apia, in consequence of the. shortage of labour to work tho plantations. Tho Chinese, through their Consul, demanded the same wage as paid to whites, but this was resented by the latter, and causod ill-feeling. Ho thought tho arrival of a transport with a fresh supply of Chinese labour shortly would relieve the situation, and lie expected that a satisfactory settlement would bo arrived at.
