CYCLING.

THE DUNLOP ROAD RACE.

Arrangements for the Duhlop road race, to be run from Christchurch to Timaru to-morrow, are well in hand. The race will be started from tho Hospital Corner, Ohristchurch, the , limit man leaving at 8 a.m. sharp. Every competitor will be supplied with a number of small tickets. These are to be attached to the handle-bar, and the rider is to tear oue off and drop it at the flag when passing Dunsandel Hotel, Ashburton Post Office and Geraldine Post Office, so that his position hi the race may be telegraphed ■ through, and he must hand a tioket to • tho check steward at finish of race. I The route will be from Christchurch, along the lliccarton Road, keeping Riecarton Church on right, and crossing ! railway at Sockburn, then taking Slain ; South Road, passing through Hornhy, j Rolleston, Burnham, over Belwyn River, Dunsandel. llakaia, Chertsey ) (feeding station No. 1), Ashburton, 1 Tinwald (where the Main South Road ia left), along the Maronan Road to Rangitata Bridge (feeding station No. 2), thence to Geraldine and Winchester, where the Main South Road is picked up again; thence to Temuka. The

finish will be just before reaching Melville Hotel, Timaru. Food-bags and food and hot milk_ will be supplied at the feeding stations, Chertsoy 42 miles, Rangitata 79 miles. The route will ho flagged wherever necessary. Competitors' clothes will be sent to Timaru by train, and competitors will be able to return to Christchurch by the second express. The route will be patrolled by the St John Ambulance Brigade, and Dr H. M. Inglis wjlj accompany the ambulance officers through to Timaru. Tho superintendent at Christchurch will be Mr P. R. Lough, starter Mr A. R. Barker, chief steward Mr A. C. Duff. The referee at Timaru will ba Mr J. Kennedy, the judge Mr R. J. Cooke and tlio superintendents Messrs J. B. Brinsden, W. M'Bride and H. H. Frascr.
