ALLEGED MURDER AT SEA.

[Pek Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 1. Charles Smith, mate of the American barquentine Malsawell, lying at Newcastle, was arrested on a charge of murdering a Japanese steward oil board that vessel when she was voyaging from Delagoa Bav to Newcastle, and was brought to Wellington by the Aorangi yesterday afternoon in charge of a special constable belonging to the United States Consulate at Sydney. Smith, who denies the charge, was taken on to San Francisco by the Aorangi, which left to-day.
