GABRIEL’S GULLY JUBILEE.

PROGRAAIAIE OF CELEBRATIONS. Tho following is the official programme* in connection with the Gabriel’s Gully jubilee celebrations, to be carried out at Lawrence this month : SATURDAY, MAY 20. It is hoped that a large number of pioneers will make it convenient to arrive on this date. They will be met at the railway station (Lawrence) and conducted to their quarters by the Reception Committee. SUNDAY, MAY 21. The usual morning and evening services will be held in the Anglican, Methodist, Roman Catholic and Presbyterian Churches and Salvation Army Barracks, and a special combined service in the Town Hall at 3 p.m. AIONDAY, AIAY 22. Bells will be rung at S a.m. Alonster procession in the afternoon, headed by Tuapeka Brass Band. The procession will consist of pioneers of 1861, followed by those of 1862 and succeeding years, Aloimted Rifles, Fire Brigade, Cadets, Friendly Societies and the general public. Various items reminiscent of the early days will be arranged for, such as prospecting parties, bullock and sledge, pack-horse, escort of mounted troopers and diggers in typical digging costume. After the procession addresses will be given by a Alinister of the Crown, members of Parliament and others. Torchlight procession with fireworks display and grand concert at night. TUESDAY, AIAY 23. The day will be dovoted to visiting the various parts of the district— Gabriel’s Gully, Blue Spur, Wetherstones and Waitahuna, and opportunities provided for comparing the old system of working with the present-day methods. Social gathering at / night. WEDNESDAY, AIAY 24. Empire Day celebrations in the morning. Football match and sports in the afternoon. Complimentary dinner in the evening in the Town Hall. Entertainment in Volunteer Hal’. THURSDAY, AIAY 25. Conference of old-time and presentday minors in the morning. Picnic in the afternoon on Recreation Reserve. Smoko concert in Town Hall at night. Dance in Volunteer Hall. FRIDAY, MAY 26. Leave-taking.
