DOMAIN FETE.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Domain Fete Committee- was held yesterday, Mr J. F. Grierson presiding. Mr J. Jamieson reported that the wholesale and retail hardware firms had consented to close at noon on the day of the fete, and there was every prospect of the soft goods houses closing. The chairman said that it was probable that the insurance and law cfiiccs would also close. It was reported that Mr C. J. Cooper had consented to take charge of the auctioneers' stall. The secretary was instructed to ask the Railway Department if the evening trains from Christchureh on the day of the fete could be delayed. The secretary reported that the tickets for the competition for a free trip to Australia, with admission to the fete, would be on sale at various shops. Mr Jamieson reported that he had promises of donations amounting to £25. It was decided that the next meeting should be held next' Wednesday.

The secretary of the fete has been informed by Mr T. Archey, the master at Burnham, that the Burnham Band will play at the fete. The aranq;oments for the baby show are in the hands of Dr Maivland, who wan instrumental in making a success of the one held at the Hospital fete.

The Canterbury Jockey Club has lent to the executive all the chairs that will be required for the tea and other stalls, and for the convenience of those who attend the fete. Arrangements have been made whereby, in addition to the large tea stalls for the convenience of the public at the fete, the kiosk recently erected in the domain will be used.
