ROAD BOARDS.

OXFORD. A meeting of the Oxford Hoad. Board was held ; on Wednesday; present— Messrs D. Hawke (chairman),- C. F.. Bassett. A. Baxter, H. Campbell and H. Smith. It was resolved that the registration fees for dogs should be 2s Gd for sheep or cattle dogs and Ss for any other dogs if registered before March 31, after that date 10s. Correspondence was received from .the Minister of Public "Works stating that the conditional grant of £SOO placed on the Public "Works Estimates towards the construction of the Ashley GorgeSnowdale Road had been cancelled, and that an unconditional grant of £SOO has been placed on the Supplementary Estimates. It was. resolved to prepare plans and specifications for the continuation of the road, and call for tenders on March 1. The secretary of the Ashley Countv-Local Bodies’ Association wrote calling a. meeting for January 24 to consider the proposed Counties Act Amendment Act, and a proposal regardiii" public Health and the Hospital Board. Waring wrote comnlaining that people using his laud had left- the gates open and let sheep into his crop. He intended to discontinue allowing the public to make use of his ground. Mr T. Buxton, M.P., u nited on the Board with reference to the Greenstone Island Road, and explained that the money could be expended partly in the purchase of land. It. was decided to meet at the road on Monday. The Geraldine Road Board wrote asking the Board to contribute half the balance necessary for. the erao tion of -the Ivakahu stock bridge, th# Government having contributed £3OO towards the work. It was decided to offer to contribute a third of the coeh The overseer’s report was read. It we* resolved to shingle the newly-formed road leading to the lower Orari ford and the lower Opihi ford, to form M’Bride’s Road, and to fill in th» shingle pit near Mr J. J.
