BATHING AT NEW BRIGHTON.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l would like, through your paper, to voice the grumblings of hundreds of my fellow bathers as regards the total inadequacy of the facilities for bathing at the pier. Have the people any idea of the possibilities of tho pier? It is now (as badly and meanly equipped as it is) everything to New Brighton. It is a great pity that the borough or some person with liberal and progressive ideas does not own it. A fine row of decent dressing rooms could be built on either side much farther seaward than tho present mean sheds, a distinct part being reserved for ladies, with good wide railed steps to the beach. I maintain that this fine structure, erected a generation ago by a tenth of the present population, instead of being the centre of attraction as it should be is degenerating into a worn-out, mean-looking, to-be-avoided place.—l am, etc.. KANAKA.
