Air R. B. 8011, of Ashburton, arrived in Christchurch last evening. Alessrs E. Hallenstein and G. W. Bennett were passengers for Wellington by the Alararoa last evening. Air C. W. Leete, of Akaroa, who met with an accident at tho Banks Peninsula horse show on Thursday, has made a good recovery, and is about again. Among the passengers for the north bv steamer last evening were a number of ministers, many of whom will attend the Presbyterian Assembly in Auckland. Dr Hight, Dr Chilton, Dr Alarsliall, Dr Benham, Dr Al’Lean, Professor T. D. Adams, Professor Gilray and Professor Dickie were passengers for Wellington by tho Alararoa last evening. The following members of Parliament left for Wellington by the Alararoa last evening:—The Hon G. J. Smith and Alessrs T. H. Davey, G. Witty, J. Craigie, T. E. Taylor, T. AI. Wilford and G.. W. Russell. Air R. C. Bishop, who has been incapacitated for the past six weeks through an accident to his leg, sustained by tripping over a baulk of timber, is now able to get about again, though his wounds havo not quite mended Messrs T. Griffith Taylor, C. S. W right and F. Debenliam, members of tho scientific staff of Captain Scott’s Antarctic Expedition, left'Cliristchurch lor Tinmru, on route for the Alount Cook Hermitage yesterday. They will conduct geological and other scientific observations among tho Alps, Mr Wright remaining for a week and the others for a fortnight.

A Press Association message from Auckland states that Mr William Henry, the founder of the Life-Savin" Society was welcomed to New Zealand by the Mayor at the Council Chambers yesterday. Mr Henry will leave for the south to-morrow evening. Dan Wilson who died' at the Bluff on rid ay, aged ninety-two. lived under sis sovereigns (telegraphs the Dunedin correspondent of this paper). He was born m Halifax in ISIB. Ho deserted rrom a_ French man-o’-war at Hobart m 1840, and stowed away i„ a New Zealand whaler. He had resided at the Huff for the last sixty-five years, following the callings of whaling and fishing. “
