SOMERFIELD SCHOOL.
MEETING OF HOUSEHOLDERS. A meeting of residents of the Beckenham and Fisherton and the South Spreydon district was held at tlic Tennyson Street Congregational schoolroom last evening, Mr 0. Lanrcnrxn, M.P., presiding, for the purposes of approving boundaries for the district of the r.tnv Somerfield Street school and of electing a provisional school committee. There were about fifty householders present. After a long discussion the following boundaries were agreed upon:—From the junction of Tennyson Street with the River Heathcote; along tlm river in a south-westerly direction to Hill’s Road; along Hills Road in a westerly direction to the junction with the river; north-westerly along the river to a point- opposite the western terminus of Stourbridge Street; northerly along Barrington Street to Milton Street; easterly along Milton Street to Strickland Street; southerly along Strickland Street to Devon Street; easterly along Devon Street to Colombo Street: southerly along Colombo Street to Southey Street; easterly along Southey Street to Southampton Street; south-easterly along Southampton Street to its terminus, and *thenca in a straight line, across sections, lo tho starting-point.
Mrs Field, Dr .F. Browne and Messrs tV. Joyce. O. R. Whiting, B. Harris. Martin and "W. Spring were elected a provisional committee. On the motion of Mr \Y. W. Charters a vote, of thanks was accorded to Messrs O. I.aurensoii, G. "Witty and H. G. Ell, members of Parliament, for their successful efforts to obtain a new school for the district.
