DUNEDIN HOSPITAL.
fP%R Press Association.} DrJNnriN, November 6
At a meeting of the Hospital and 1 Charitable Aid Hoard yesterday the resignation of Miss Fraser, matron of the Hospital, was considered and accepted with expressions of regret. In forwarding her resignation Miss Fraser said that her nervous system hi id received a severe shock, and she felt quite unable to continue in office. Mr Loudon, chairman o'i the Hospital Committee, said Miss Fraser had done her duty faithfully and well, her one object, being to conduct the Hospital in the way it should be conducted. The article in the " Ota go Daily Times " was grossly exaggerated and in some particulars absolutely contrary to fact. No doubt inquiry would be made into all the complaints made, and he was perfectly satisfied they would be able to satisfy the public in regard, to Miss Fraser's zeal and management and also in regard to the general management of the institution. He would move —"That the Board express sincere regret at the resignation of Miss Fraser and the reasons prompting it, after so many years of honourable and faithful service. That as Miss Fraser would neither withdraw nor postpone her resignation, the same be accepted, and the question of making a temporary appointment be referred to the Hospital Committee tor immediate eon- j sideration, with power to act, and that the Board express sincere regret over the regrettable circumstances necessitating Miss Fraser's resignation." Mr Myers seconded the motion, and in doing so endorsed Mr Loudon's remarks.
The motion was carried unanimously. A meeting - of the Hospital Committee will ho held on Monday at 7.30 p.m. One of the nurses at the Hospital who admitted, when questioned by the medical superintendent, that she had given infornia-tion to an '* Otago Daily Times "* reporter, was immediately suspended ana ordered to appear bei'ore a committee of the Board,
